prepare for the Internet
Today, no marketing campaign is complete without a web presence. InVisions Marketing and Design are Internet specialists. We will create your web site and manage your internet marketing, but before we begin, you need a couple of things. We can set this up for you, but if you want to manage this yourself, here's what you should do:
- Choose and Purchase a domain name
We can do this for you (see Pricing Extras for details) or you can do this yourself as explained here:
The domain is the name of your web site and is the “address” that you share with the world. Ours, for instance, is invisionsdesign.com. Many companies sell domains, and they are inexpensive, only a few dollars a year. We purchased ours through godaddy.com, but there are many others, and some of them may be cheaper, easier, or offer deals that include email, security, hosting and/or other options in a package more appropriate for your needs. Go to google.com or your favorite search engine and type “domain name” to shop for your domain. If the name you want is taken, consider variations. We wanted invisions.com, but it was unavailable so we chose invisionsdesign.com instead. Be creative, if needed. This step of preparing for your web site can be done right away.
- Purchase web hosting

Once your web site is complete, you will need a place for it on the internet. There are countless web servers available, and the cost of web hosting has come down tremendously in recent years. You may already be paying for space through your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and not even realize it. We recommend that you start there. Visit your ISP’s web site and see what they’ll charge you. Check these options out, search the web, and compare prices and services. Unless you already know what requirements your web site will have, we recommend waiting until after we meet to choose a web host. If you need specific features, such as special server-side technologies, We will let you know so that you can be sure to choose a plan that will cover your needs. Waiting until after we meet is ideal, but not necessary. If you already have a web host, don’t worry, there’s a good chance they offer the technologies you need.
Once you’ve done these two things, the hard part for you is over. Now it’s time to sit back, get creative, and then watch your vision come to life.
